For more information please contact Wellness Coordinator Iván Sznitowski at ext. 629 or email [email protected].
Our Wellness Coordinator is Iván Sznitowski. You might recognize his name and/or face because he is also one of our Managers on Duty. Iván was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and also spent time in Finland before moving to the Bay Area at the age of 14. Iván is fluent in Spanish, French and English. In his free time he enjoys playing competitive soccer, tennis and most often you will find him strength-training here at Prime Time Athletic Club. Pursuant in a career as a registered dietician, Iván received his Bachelor’s of Nutrition Science degree from U.C. Davis. Iván will be available to discuss any dietary and nutrition needs that can help you achieve your wellness goals and to be the best version of yourself.
Iván’s philosophy is that food intake for each individual is different. He does not believe in having to restrict any macronutrients in order to see results, although for some people this strategy makes it easier to achieve their health goals. He doesn’t like the word “diet” because it implies (for most people at least) a short term of healthy but unenjoyable meals. A good meal plan should be enjoyable. What works for one person might not necessarily work for another person. He believes there is no way around it – in order to lose weight one has to eat less calories than the calories spent in a day. There are two ways to achieve this: increasing physical activity (burning more calories) or consuming less calories. He does not promote big caloric deficits since it is more likely to create bounce back with weight gain, binge eating which is a risk to consider as well and can lead to nutrient deficiencies. Iván believes in small caloric deficits for a defined amount of time and then a gradual increase of calories in a maintenance program.
