Pilates Reformer Training

One of the best features of the reformer is its versatility. Exercises can be done lying down, sitting, standing, pulling the straps, pushing the footbar, perched on the footbar, perched on the shoulder blocks, with additional equipment, upside down, sideways and all kinds of variations. In other words, the reformer can train many parts and dynamics of the body in many different ways with just one relatively sleek piece of equipment. Many exercises are done on the reformer to promote length, strength, flexibility, and balance. Most Pilates Reformer exercises have to do with pushing or pulling the carriage or holding the carriage steady during an exercise as it is pulled by the springs.

There are many reformer exercises, including those for first-time beginners to exercises that challenge the most advanced practitioners.

The practice of Pilates can lead to daily life improvements: better posture, efficient movement, and for many, relief from pain associated with physical imbalances such as back pain.

The Pilates powerhouse muscle is the core and is paramount for building strength. Flat abs, strong backs, toned buttocks and thighs are all results of this emphasis. Pushing and pulling with legs or arms against the resistance of the springs, carriage, and body weight is generally strength building.

Group Pilates Reformer Class

If you have Pilates reformer experience sign up for a group class with Mary Kalbhenn. This class has up to 8 participants and the cost is $279.00. Class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. for 6 week sessions. See front desk for start time or to sign up.

Semi-Private Pilates Reformer Sessions

Semi-private sessions with the Allegro Reformer are limited to two or three participants and arranged with the students and the instructor.

Single Session: $50.00 per person
Five-Session Package: $225.00 per person
Ten-Session Package: $425.00 per person

Private Pilates Reformer Sessions

This is a one-on-one instruction using the Allegro Reformer along with various props. The 60-minute session is arranged with the instructor and student based upon availability.

Single Session: $70.00
Five-Session Package: $325.00
Ten-Session Package: $625.00

Private Pilates Trainer

Genevieve is a Certified Yoga, Pilates Mat and Pilates Reformer Instructor, earning her certifications from the Kinesiology Department at the College of San Mateo (see her bio on Page 6).

If you have ever thought about trying Pilates, Genevieve is available for private or bring a friend or family member and do semi-private training in Studio 5. Stop by the front desk to schedule an appointment or contact Fitness Director Cathy Firkins to set up an appointment at ext. 613.
